Yale's lock used a flat key with serrated edges like the ones we still use today. When inserted into the lock, the key pushes the bottom pins into the right position, which allows the user to turn the key and unlock the lock. The cylinder lock perfected by Yale is based on a mechanism first employed by the ancient Egyptians over 4000 years ago.

Info regarding FRAIM co.
1879 Fraim and Bros (also Keystone Lock Works) - Edward T (E T) Fraim, Parker K Fraim and Miller W Fraim. In about 1890 MW and PK left to form Lancastwer Silver Plate Co. Sons Walter E and Samuel R entered the business, and took over upon ET's death in 1917. However, by 1920 Samuel bought out Walter. Within ayear Walter bought a major interest in Slaymaker Lock Co, and formed Fraim-Slaymaker Hardware Co. This was in direct competition with brother Samuel's company! Samuel R's oldest son Samuel E joined Fraim in his fathers business. Edward T Fraim II followed in 1933. The lock company ended about 1959.

The Government of The Straits Settlements was first authorized to issued currency notes by Ordinance VIII of 1897 which came into operation on August 31 1898.

Some of the details are as follows:
the printer is Bradbury Wilkinson & Co
there are few dates for this one dollars viz: 1/1/1931 (Signature by Luis Shelley); 1/1/1932(Signature by Luis Shelley); 1/1/1933(Signature by Rex Curral); this note1/1/1934(signed by Rex Curral) and 1/1/1935( signature by Rex Curral)
all these one dollar notes have the same size 125mmx64mm

On the front of this note, we have:
” THE GOVERNMENT OF THE STRAITS SETTLEMENTS/Promise to pay the bearer on demand/ONE DOLLAR/at Singapore Local Currency for value received”

Date of issue, and signature of the Currency Commissioners. The value appears on the left in Chinese and on the right in Jawi
